Beautiful cleaned, graded, and sized Rhea Eggshells
From the American Ostrich Research Farm, Illinois, dedicated to saving the threatened species Rhea Americana
These are grade A unblemished eggs. Grade B eggs are whole eggs with ridges, stains, or other imperfections available in another auction at a reduced price (if we have them in stock). The eggs fade from the bright yellow to cream with exposure to light. If you want a lighter egg just put it in the sun! It is not possible to preserve the yellow color.
Rhea eggs are living dinosaur eggs! Porcelain-like blown egg for egg crafting. Wonderful for egg carving and painting.
A single 1/4 inch hole at the wide end. Thoroughly cleaned with a mini pressure washer.
We grade our eggs by sizes listed in the chart below. There is no standard for egg sizing, so compare dimensions and not names.
All sizes are available. Sorry, no international shipments are permitted on this endangered species by the CITES laws.

Shipping
We are experts at packing these eggs, but occasionally the elephants get loose in the post office. We will take care of the issue with a photo of the box and damaged contents. Large orders are shipped UPS. Due to the care we take in packing these large boxes, extra days are required. Sometimes we have to pack and repack several box sizes to get the one that fits best.
The rheas and I thank you for bidding.
With over 20 years experience, 1200 eggs per year and commercial accounts, we grade our eggs to provide the highest quality eggshells for artists in the sizes they prefer. Others sell all their eggs as top quality which is just not possible. Eggs get stained from mud, storms cause the hens to stress which temporarily changes the speed the shell is formed resulting in ridges at the point, the final coating isn't smooth and there can be stress fractures as the 1/4" drain hole. These issues mean 15-20% of the eggs are classified as seconds and sold as such.
We are the only supplier of rhea eggs that grades the eggs, so you get the quality egg that you require in your work.
Thanks,
American Ostrich Research Farm
Notice:
The eggs are blown and empty of the liquid contents. They will not hatch and are not edible. If the shell is broken while being handled, the edges will be sharp and may cause injury. Please use caution.
